‘Securing my generation’: How this Philly mom found financial stability through Clarifi

Danielle, a Philadelphia mom and Clarifi client, shared her story of financial resilience at a Macquarie staff fundraiser during their annual Foundation Week in October. Together, the team raised more than $10,000 to support Clarifi! Read the powerful speech Danielle gave during Macquarie’s fundraiser here*.

Throughout my life, I have faced countless closed doors, where it felt like there was no way forward. But through Clarifi, I found clarity. There was a way to step back, reassess, and build myself up. I realized I could reach goals that I once thought were unattainable.

My Clarifi counselor is helping me stay focused and save money. I’ve learned how to budget, open up a bank account, invest and put that money toward becoming a first-time homeowner. Through Clarifi’s financial counseling, I now have a path toward financial stability.

Financial empowerment starts with me, and I can then pass that knowledge down to my daughter. She sees where we started from and where we are right now. Two years ago, my had father passed away and I didn’t have a stable place to live. I didn’t know what I was going to do.

Danielle stands with Macquarie employee and Clarifi board member Drew Schneider, during a Macquarie Foundation Week fundraiser.

But with organizations like Clarifi, I gained financial education, stability, and the ability to pass down this knowledge. I’m securing my generation. In order to secure strong futures for our youth, we have to protect them and empower them through the adults, through moms like me. Together, we can change the dynamic of our community and keep moving forward.

Financial empowerment starts with me, and I can then pass that knowledge down to my daughter.
– Danielle, Clarifi client

I now can build wealth. I now can become a homeowner. I now can turn my life around and build stability for my daughter. She will grow up to be certain and destined and on her path, not uncertain and facing the same struggles as a single mother.

Now that I’m more financially stable, I’m going to school to receive my bachelor’s degree so I can become a social worker. I love helping people. I want to impact people, and I want to turn my own story of being “counted out” into one of “counting in,” so I can help others succeed, too.
